RE: DB48X for iOS now available
(10-03-2024 05:29 PM)NetMage Wrote: A couple of points about the DB* App Store pages. I agree. For reference, Christophe (aka c3d) explains a summary of the differences a couple of posts back. https://www.hpmuseum.org/forum/thread-22...#pid190842 The idea was to let people choose between: * a free app with limited features, e.g. no save. That's DB40X. * an app that will track DB48X running on the DM42 as closely as possible. That app is currently limited in terms of the memory exposed to the user to roughly approximate the amount you get on a physical DM42. The rationale is that owners of a DM42 may want to share programs between the two and have identical behaviours and limits. * an app that will track DB50X running on the DM32 as closely as possible. That app will have the user-accessible memory be closer to what you get on a DM32. I added colour as a bonus, to motivate people who do not own SwissMicros hardware to pick the more expensive option ;-) He also mentions the following brief information for each app in the App Store: DB40X: "DB40X is part of a family of compatible RPL calculators that include DB48X and DB50X. DB40X lacks the ability to write programs or data to disk, and RPL programs are limited to 40K." DB48X: "DB48X is part of a family of compatible RPL calculators that include the free DB40X and the color DB50X." DB50X: "DB50X is part of a family of related calculators that include the black-and-white DB48X and the entry-level DB40X." |
