RE: HP-30B screen protector secrets?
IPA did not work at all and just made it worse. What DID work though was a completely dry fingertip (not nail) scrubbing it away. Then a polish with a dry Kimwipe. It seems any sort of liquid caused problems. Maybe the adhesive changed during long term storage as 'NOS' ? Who knows.
Now on to the machine: Keys 0,5,shift require extra pressure to activate. The shift key in particular causes lots of problems in sample calculations. Design: nice looks, but they really need someone addressing usability. For example delta% (aka %CH) which is a very common business calculation. Several key presses to get to the 'percent menu' then a non-intuitive interface to use %CH which includes scrolling around to find what you want. And it was a single keystroke on the 12C. And don't get me started on that retro-look low-res upper display. Coming from a SwissMicros machine it hurts my eyes to squint at it. But hey, look on the bright side. I got 2 free CR2032 batteries with it! -J |
