Different connectors can make contact in different places on the pad. The PCB in the TI has an HASL (solder) coating so it does tend to get oxidized, more so where a connector had not been making contact. My TI-74 did not have an issue, but I had to clean the TI-95 contacts, and it is the one which had a RAM cart in it when I got it.
