RE: Bug: HP Prime can't do Log's

Similar situation with my Daughter in US High School. Bought the HP Prime but not for her (yet...) - though it is invaluable for me helping her with her homework. In our case, she rarely actually has to graph anything and for this she uses an old TI84. Normally, she uses a TI36X Pro ($18) for homework and calculator portions of quizzes/tests. Mostly though, its pencil and paper work. If she really shows a strong aptitude and interest in math, then maybe she will pickup the HP Prime. In your case, perhaps this is a "teachable moment" where you can discuss floating point precision, Home vs CAS, LOG() logb() and LOG()/LOG() and/or number formats? As others have stated, proot(), a number of *solve commands are able to solve polynomial roots. In addition, pcoeff() is a handy function to create polynomial coefficients from roots. |
