RE: Bug: HP Prime can't do Log's
Amazing!
So far, replies to davimle's straightforward concern about wrong answers being returned by the HP Prime when computing logs of arbitrary bases, e.g., log(base 3) of 81 and log (base 5) of 125, have: - quoted Godel's Incompleteness theorem; - questioned whether there are right or wrong answers in math; - discovered that while the wrong answer is obtained in one part of the calculator's environment (HOME), the correct (different) answer can be obtained in the calculator's Computer Algebra System (CAS) environment. - suggested making the log error a teachable moment. I wonder what Bill Hewlett's reply would have been? |
