But more important, the charging current looks a bit high for me. Fine for AA, but not for N cells. Reading the description I'm not completely sure, but it looks like you get 300 mA only with 3 or 4 cells, which I would consider somewhat high for an 500 mAh N battery. Especially if you do not know which kind of charge control the device uses – if any at all. Using N-AA adapters I would not count on the mentioned overheat protection.

Thanks very much, Dieter, for your thoughts on this. I am already convinced that the BC-700 is the right way to go. Now, I am trying to make sure that the batteries will be able to make proper contact with the charger.

Can anyone offer an alternate N size NiMH battery with a button top?
