Your simplified result is correct. If you act on it with factor() it should be clear that it is the same as the answers on the TI Nspire and Mathematica. The only difference is that the Prime likes to write
\[1\over\sqrt{a^2+b^2}\] as \[\sqrt{a^2+b^2}\over a^2+b^2\] - the root-free denominator that you referred to. I don't know how to change this behaviour. The problem is that Simplify() doesn't know what form you want. On the Prime it tends to expand things rather than factoring them. I hope this helps. Also, note that the character "e" is 2.71828 to the Prime- this may cause problems if you are unaware of it. Using \(\epsilon\) from the chars menu is safer. Nigel (UK) |
