I've been using my Chinese made platinum with the silver key background as my daily but if the Philippines ones are the current lot I think I'll switch to using that and keep the other one as part of my collection. Would hate to damage or lose the silver one as it would be difficult to replace.

I honestly don't know about production sites, but I'll ask Tim at HHC in September.

The Silver 12CP machines were produced for a couple years, so somewhat available, but the black-faced versions are far more numerous. I'd 'retire' the Silver 12CP to the collection.

Also, the newer versions use MUCH faster processors; this is dramatically noticeable with programs, but not so much in real-time number-crunching, except if you're solving for interest rate (which is iterative) which can take a moment on the older machines.
