Hmmm... it appears that SM moved the screw location for the production configuration, probably due the very problem with Beta machines as I described.

My production machine does not have this problem so I had no reason to open this one; I should have checked to be certain before posting.

Pascal's suggestion seems like the next step, though others have also reported needing to (carefully!) temporarily pull up the membrane to clean small debris in-between the layers preventing consistent key-press results. Check details on the SM Forum on how to do this if Pascal's suggestion doesn't work.
