If TI managed to use a stable material for the grip wheel and clutch mechanism, I could see it might be fine. Apparently the unit didn't have any significant dust/grime/crud buildup over the years, and maybe it wasn't used much 'back in the day' ??
It was well stored over the years, but used well during the few years it was a main tool. I consider myself lucky in any case.
