Any register, which is assigned to dynamic GPS data, should to be used as read only value, because it could be updated any time. Just use any other register for indexing or calculations.

For compatibility with HP-25E GPS I will not implement the upper registers for dynamic data. I see no disadvantage to use the upper registers in your program for calculations instead.
