AFAIK the Spice series (HP-31 through HP-38) has the same power supply design defect as the Woodstock series (HP-21 through HP-29). The HP-33E/33C Owner's Handbook states "Do not attempt to operate the calculator from the ac line with the battery pack removed". Do not plug a charger into these models without a known good battery pack installed! In fact, to be on the safe side, you should recharge the barreries with an external charger. |
