The Friden calculator in this video is reputed to be the first solid state electronic desktop calculator how ever the Sumlock Anita is reputed to be the first electronic desktop calculator preceding the Friden calculator by a couple years using vacuum tube technology. But it too was preceded by machines such as the IBM 604 which was a electronic and programmable too. It was followed by the 608 in 1957 which was a solid state version of the 604.
