RE: circa 1980 Casio with clock, similar to fx-8100
Quote:thanks; I'm not sure: the CQ seem to be desktop.CQ-1 most definitely, CQ-81 however... But I agree, likely not the CQ series... so that leaves the classic Casio designation for Scientific's the "FX" series. Assuming the FX-50xP and FX-80 were the first (and yellow) Scientific LCD's by Casio (I think) this leaves the period 1981/1982 for an LCD Scientific with time - when the FX-60xP/FX-81 were launched, can't think of anything offhand. Interesting if there was. I'm far from a Casio expert. However given your school period I'm about a decade ahead (late 80's/early 90's) in reasonable recall (although I live in Edinburgh!). If the LCD was "yellow" that would date the Casio from '77(possibly)/'78 to '79/'80 however, but Casio produced relatively few LCD devices in that time period and after '80 all were of the more conventional variety. Before '79 I think most were that fluorescent blue thingy (nice by the way). I really need to look more into Casio Calculator history )) HP-28S (1988 US model), DM41X (2020) |
