There's actually nothing HP about the 35S apart from the badge. It's a Chinese creation churned out as fast as possible and then abandoned as soon as it's out so that the developers can work on the next project.

I have a more recent 35S (PHA702xxxx) from 2017 and it's still the flag 0 indicator that is lit up.
