Four modes of detection:

Acoustical, capacitive and magnetic and measurement by means of current drain! I can see why the cost was so high. They list on eBay in sad shape for around 1600 to 2500 USd.

Auto detection of frequency of quartz crystal so will auto detect any frequency including HP 01, or HP 55 and etc plus the Omega marine master 2.4mHz. Uses stepping motor or if detectable capacitive on digital.

Will set up a count, then compare the detected mode to the count (In the PCA an oven heated cut quartz crystal at 32kHz, yes the crystal is heated to a specified temperature to guarantee its consistent count reliability.). The count is repeated and the off count of the watch under detection is compared, the math is done and voila, a reading!

Just received a full PDF manual from the manufacturer for free. Time to have fun, Pun included!
