Me too; I meant, e.g., #1000d vs. 1000. Sorry, wasn't directly referring to your code there, just throwing out something else I tried.

I'm not too surprised that ran slower, given how the Saturn and RPL are built for BCD. I just tried it because of a vague, nagging memory that I had something that ran faster with binary rather than real.
