Hello,
Having different, same looking symbols mean different things and non-interchangeable is a PITA for 'regular users'. See how long it too to educate people that a '-' and a '_' were different (for email addresses and the like)... try telling them that an e an e and an e are different! Also, since we wanted to be able to use computer keyboards to work, we needed to be able to handle normal characters... The cas, coming from the PC, did also not have special characters... All this got together to make the syntax relatively flexible and permissive. Cyrille Although I work for the HP calculator group, the views and opinions I post here are my own.
