First python project : HP41 emulator + hints of workflow

I loaded the py41e on my Prime G1 with the brand new 20240901 firmware. I'm not quite experienced enough to debug what is happening so was hoping one of you could point me in the right direction to get the app running properly.

The problem is that each time I press a key the app completely reloads and then I have to press the clear soft key on the display to get back to the main emulator display screen. I have edited the config.py and seen that uncommenting the filestuff command does make a difference (display shows up with the requisite commands). I have been able to switch between fast and slow modes. Still stuck with reloading at each key press.
