Best would be like new barely used 80s era 12c, second best is eiter the DM12L or 12C+ two batterry arm processor that is hard to find.

It looks like most new 12c and clones use an emulator? Original programming must easy to fit on new memory and run faster on modern processors.

The DM12 uses an original ROM image, I believe. I know the DM42 uses an emulation and no original code but I'm pretty sure the rest of the SM calculators use actual HP firmware. Only the processor itself is emulated.
