A new old bug in the printer ROM?

The IR communication protocol between the calculator and the HP82240 printer is actually quite well defined. There is a document 82240bte.pdf (you can find it on hpcalc.org) which is the technical interfacing guide for doing anything with the infrared port.
The Blinky IR module for the HP41 module is one of the few remaining white spots on the HP worldmap, although there is a simulation in the NutEM/PC (available from TOS). This is not open source though.
