Thanks a lot for your interest and perseverance, J-F, and don't worry, I won't post my original solution until some other has been posted. If after a week none are, I won't post mine either ("If I see interest ..." clause) but will simply make the solution+comments PDF available to those who contributed, which so far includes you, PeterP and EdS2.
