If it is not connecting to the FTP site when checking for updates, chances are you have a firewall or something blocking the direct connection.

Code:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/calculators/Prime/HP_Prime_Calculator_Firmware_20140702.zip
is the direct link to the file it is trying to grab. Unzip that in your ".\Docuements\HP Connectivity Kit\Firmware" directory and then right click your unit in the tree to run the update.
