@ fetches 20-bit values from the specified address
C@ fetches 8-bit values from the specified address (often used for characters) N@ fetches 4-bit values from the specified address and the same for the ! equivalents Most existing Forth code assumes @ will get 16-bit values. hth --Bob Prosperi |
