Support for i*... without * would require adding a few rules in the parser. I think it is feasible, but I'll do it, because it does not happen frequently and it would not change the fact that the CAS parser does not support implicit multiplication, it only supports a few shortcuts like 2x instead of 2*x (and if you have the math level to work with i, you can understand it's important to write explicit *).
For the 3 outside of the exponent, this is pre-simplification, so that expression have a polynomial dependency with respect to fewer variables.
