I'll think about your proposal, I like fixed length, not as easier to read when you are looking at code on the screen but worth exploring, perhaps we can use some Unicode symbols for some keys.
I will add NTHCHAR because I think it's useful and clean (not only for this purpose, but in general).
I will also add rc.p <-> String keycode conversion commands to improve compatibility.
