It is just not a good practice and it should be avoided.

Three glasses of champagne a week prevents Alzheimer's disease but three bottles a day will probably kill you. Moderation is always a good idea!

I do avoid GOTO when writing new programs but since I have over two thousand (and counting) non-trivial BASIC programs to translate, I would never have time to restructure them all. It will be faster for me to write an interpreter in HPPL and avoid all that translation work.
