Is HP-300S a Casio clone?
Hello!
I have got a HP-300s today and my first impression: nice Casio cialculator. Many keys, menues and I think the display too, are the same as by a Casio calculator. And it forgets the history stack after switching off, like Casio. Does anybody know, which Casio you get, if not the HP branding is outside? I have never thought HP would sell calculators from the competition. A shame that HP does't like calculators anymore :-( Bernd |

One person thought it was a Casio fx-82ES with a different layout: http://www.hpmuseum.org/forum/thread-104...l#pid95047 But the forensics do not match: http://www.hpmuseum.org/forum/thread-1752.html It may be a unique Kinpo model made for HP. I'm sure HP corporate would love calculators more if they were more profitable like they were for a time. Unfortunately the world has moved on since the 70s/80s. There are better tools to use for most tasks than a hand held calculator. The only place scientific and graphic calculators still sell now in any quantity is the educational market and TI owns that market in the U.S. HP is still in the game though, just not in the same way. |

RE: Is HP-300S a Casio clone?
Hello,
I have read some of the manual of the HP-300S and I think it's similar to the Casio fx-82ES but not exactly, because some functions are not the same (like the simplify option in the setup menue). Perhaps you are right, Steve: "It may be a unique Kinpo model made for HP" But the biggest problem are the bad keys. Very often I type something in and the calculator doesn't register the pressed key. You must look at the display every time, if you push buttons. Hey, it's brand new and the keyboard is not working well. So, I can't recommand the HP-300S. I still prefer my HP-35S. For RPN and AOS and with much better keys. Bernd |

HP has been known to use Casio calculators re-badged as HPs. E.g. the HP10s+
