(HP-67) Transmission Line Circuit Design (multi-programs)
Five extracts (series) from Ham Radio magazine;
"The complex calculations required for rf and other engineering problems have been simplified by programmable scientific calculators such as the Hewlett-Packard HP-67/97 … These tools permit solution of design problems in hours rather than weeks, with a precision previously considered unrealistic." 1) Using distributed resonant circuits for VHF/UHF transmission lines - equations and design relationships, NOV 1980 (38-47) "The article is divided into three parts. First I address the governing expressions for calculating resonant transmission-line parameters. Included are data on design relationships such as efficiency, coupling, and resonating capacitance. The second part concerns the geometry of twelve different transmission lines in common use and derives the parameters for resonant-circuit design. The third part gives design examples demonstrating the use of the data provided." 2) Using distributed resonant circuits for uhf/vhf transmission lines, JAN 1981 (62-66) "This part of the article examines the geometry of the first four configurations of twelve different transmission lines in common use at 50 MHz and above." 3) Using distributed resonant circuits for VHF/UHF transmission lines, FEB 1981 (56-63) "In this, part 3 of the article, another set of four transmission line configurations will be examined: circular wire between planes, parallel wires over a plane, circular wire in an open trough, and parallel wires between planes/rectangular box." 4) Using distributed resonant circuits for VHF/UHF transmission lines, MAR 1981 (64-71) "In this part of the article, the last four of the twelve line configurations are examined: circular wire in a square shield; stripline over a plane; stripline centered between parallel planes; and the helical resonator." 5) Using distributed resonant circuits for vhfluhf transmission lines - Part 5: design example for a 2-meter amplifier, APR 1981 (72-76) "This is the fifth and final part of an article on the design of vhf/uhf transmission lines using distributed resonant circuits. A practical design example is presented for a 2-meter amplifier based on general equations and design relationships1 and basic design data for twelve common line configurations." BEST! SlideRule |

RE: (HP-67) Transmission Line Circuit Design (multi-programs)
Here's the program from Part 1, in HP-67 format.
I've also changed LBL 1-4 so that entering 1 [a] gives f MHz, 2 [a] calcs Z0 ohms, 3 [a] calcs C pF, and 4 [a] calcs len. That's the same order as the labels for the [A]-[D] keys so they're easier to remember. Code:
