The Mandelbrot set benchmarks show a wide performance variation but actually serve to slightly disguise the raw screen pixel plotting performance differences. I did a few more benchmarks for this more specific comparison:
HP Prime, 40,000 pixels in 1 second = 40,000 PPS fx-CG50 with C.Basic Alpha, 20,000 pixels in 2.5 seconds = 8,000 PPS fx-CG50 stock Casio Basic , 2,000 pixels in 184 seconds = 11 PPS Thus the fx-CG50, under stock Casio Basic, takes 1 hour to render what the Prime can do in 1 second. Overclocking the Casio under stock Basic isn't worth the bother but could be useful with C.Basic. |

As I know the fx-CG50 == Graph 90+E. Is Python available on fx-CG50? Because on Graph 90+E Python is built-in (as I know).

Python is supposed to be available for the Graph 90+E at the end of August. I haven't seen any official announcements for availability of Python on the international fx-CG50. If it is released as an optional add-in for the Graph 90+E, then hopefully the add-in would work on the fx-CG50 too. — Ian Abbott |

So this would require someone figuring out how to install a Graph 90+E OS image onto an fx-CG50 (which wouldn't be surprising in the least if someone comes up with a method; see also: fx-9750GII-to-9860GII conversions). |

A tad over a year since this was up in the day
Anyway, just bought this one on a discount in Norway. The (Micro)Python is an included app from at least 3.20. I've just updated to the last 3.30 FW. Impressions; it's not as quick as the Prime (G2), though it's quite fast in any case. I've also installed the chiCAS from cemetech site and getting my feet wet with it. Question on the side here; on my really old '80s Casio fX-81 I had the r-p/p-r on shift + and shift - where I could calculate polar and rectangular directly. This, I have not found on the "newer" calcs, and so also not on this one. I can of course set it to polar and just insert the rectangular calculation and receive the polar answer. But, as is a main concern here at hpmuseum regarding this inconvenience on the HP 35S, noone seems to think it is an inconvenience on this one..? Or - did I miss something? You'll find Pol( and Rec( for this purpose. Give them two arguments, and they return a list with two elements, e.g. Pol(5,2). You can either store the result of the function directly in a list of your choosing, or simply call the function and access the results in List Ans. |
