Casio fx-CG50 v3.30
Apols if everyone knows already…

I see Casio have released v3.30 for the fx-CG50.

https://twitter.com/CasioMaths/status/12...7171443712

https://education.casio.co.uk/os-files/cg50-os

OS3.30 for fx-CG50 includes UK Examination Mode and additional Python functionality

Calculator exam eligibility:
tickGCSE & National 5
tickA-level & Highers
tickIB Diploma
crossIreland Junior & Leaving Certificate
This calculator has two Examination Modes, one for UK exams and one for IB Diploma exams.

Examination Mode is recommended for UK exams and required for IB exams. Your calculator must have at least OS3.30 for UK Examination Mode.

The v3.30 User Guide doesn't make it immediately obvious what the Python changes are; still says v1.9.4.

I've not yet tried it…

Actually, it came out in August, but Casio UK have only just got around to mentioning it. Smile

The changes are described in a post on the tiplanet.org site:

https://tiplanet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=22910

(in French, but there is an option to machine translate to English). There are no changes to the Python language functions as such, but more functions have been listed in the catalog and there is a small change to the OPERAT soft key menu to allow the != operator to be entered more easily.

There are rumours of an updated OS to be released in April 2020 to support graphics in Python on the Graph 90+E (and I would guess for the fx-CG50 also).

RE: Casio fx-CG50 v3.30
thanks (here too) Ian!

I thought it was unlikely I was the first to notice it Smile

I've barely had time for my HPs recently, so my Casios have taken a back seat. I must rectify that.

thanks for the detail.

Do you know if this firmware could be used in the CG-10 and 20?

I have both and it will be nice if I can Python in one of them!

TIA

Cheers

I have the same question! Any info since then? My fx-cg10 on the way now and I want to use it for Python programming.

Thanks,

There's no mention of it on the Casio website so you'd have to download 3.30 and try it. I couldn't hurt to try. If it doesn't work, you'll just get an error message and nothing will be changed on the calculator. If it does work, let us know!

I think the latest is OS 3.11 for fx-CG10/CG20. No Python (Micro or otherwise). Sad

Right. The latest for the 10 and 20 is 3.10 but you'd have to download 3.30 for the 50 and try it on the 20. You may have to disable the calculator version check in the software but it might still run although limited by the lesser hardware.
