41CL Automated Update Process
Hi, I am finding some time to engage with my 41's again and I am woefully out of touch so I am asking for a little pointer: Where can I find the latest procedure to update my 41CL (v5) to the latest and greatest modules/os/library?
I've downloaded the *amazing* clupddate-1.1.0 from Sylvain but then I also saw some mention on Monte's site about not using '*'... Any kind sole can tell me the steps for getting my 41CL updated to the latest and greatest, its been ~2 years since I have done anything with it. Thank you so much for your kind help! RE: 41CL Automated Update Process
I'm sure others will reply, but please watch out for this...
http://www.systemyde.com/hp41/status.html 08/08/2020 Status: If you are using UPDAT-4B or UPDAT-4C to update V3/V4 boards DO NOT USE the "*" option for the FLUPD function. Instead, specify "008>1FF" for the range. |

RE: 41CL Automated Update Process
Sylvain's HHC presentation is available here:
http://systemyde.com/pdf/HHC-2017-clupda...tation.pdf The 41CL Update Functions manual is available here: http://systemyde.com/pdf/cl_update.pdf This bug related to using the "*" option only affects UPDATE-4B or UPDAT-4C, which were only available in the Flash image between May 2020 and November 2020. So you do not need to worry about that. The 41CL Update Functions were revised at the end of 2018 to add the fast scan option, which will save a lot of time. I would recommend that you update the YUPS image first, by itself, so that you can use the "CPONLY" option to do the scan. You can get an idea of the update time that will be required by looking at this file: http://systemyde.com/zip/upd_time.txt I you haven't updated since 2018 you may be looking at an extended update time (the estimate for an update from the July 2018 release is just over 4 hours) so be sure to start the process with new batteries. RE: 41CL Automated Update Process
Awesome, thanks guys. Quick question - How do I update the YUPS first and stand alone? Where can I read up on that - also in Sylvain's presentation?
Thanks again, excited to spend some time with the 41 again! Cheers PeterP Cheers, PeterP |

RE: 41CL Automated Update Process
The 41CL Update Functions manual, pages 7-8:
http://systemyde.com/pdf/cl_update.pdf shows how to load it into RAM and enable it, which is all you really need to do to start using the latest version. Then it will update itself as part of the normal update process. Monte |
