I made video about the different variants of the HP-12C that have been released over the years, largely based on information i've found in the archives of this forum...

In researching the video there were a couple of questions that I wasn't able to answer...
1/ How does the 30th Anniversary Edition have different stack lift behaviour from the original 12C. Was the original HP Nut firmware updated? (Also why?)
2/ Did anyone in the community ever release any alternate firmware for the 12C+ using the SDK HP released?

Couple of variants are missing. :-)

1) 12c platinum without parentheses. This was the first version.

2) 12c prestige - but this was cosmetic only.

In the video I don't see any difference between the original 12C result (-3.00 @8:18) and the result from the 30th Anniversary Edition which is also -3.00 (@12:06).

The 30th Ann machine is a 12C+, not a 12CP-based model, so you may be confusing which model the 30th Ann Ed machine is based on.

Yes my mistake, you are correct. I must have got confused when writing the video script.

Yeah. It would nice to have a Prestige, they are pretty expensive these days! I did remember to mention those ones in the video though as well as the blue variant.

No problem. Great series of videos. I'm so thankful you are doing these.

The 12c platinum without parentheses is the beast, since it is such a pain to use in algebraic mode.

Why do that? It was the entire reason to make a 12c platinum. :-)

It is not a coincidence that immediately after introducing Algebraic mode, they quickly updated it adding an Undo feature. You don't see that on any RPN machines... RPN don't need no stinking undo...

(Yes, it's there on RPL machines, but for different reasons...)
