32SII ROM versions and serial numbers - any way to correlate?
I'm keeping my eyes out for a USA or Singapore 32SII, and I want one with ROM version 1 (i.e. no - or fewer - fraction bugs). My USA ROM 0 unit is 3116, so 1991. My Indonesian ROM 1 unit is ID1, which I believe is 2001. So the update happened somewhere in that 10-year span, I'm guessing closer to 1991 than 2001. Anybody have a few data points to add so we can narrow it down? Then I'll have a better idea of serial number ranges to look for.

I have a 32SII here that I rarely use. it is a 1988 Indonesia (ID82901347) Version.
But I have no idea how to tell the ROM version.

I realize that this is not the model that you are looking for, but I am curious to find out how to tell the ROM version.

My Collection: 55, 67T, 25PLP, 34C, 15C, 16C, 41CV, 41CX, 41-CL, DM41X, DM42, 42S, 48G, 71B, 75C, 95LX, HP-150, Portable+, HP-86, Integral PC.

It's not 100% confirmed, but when you run the self-test and get the 32SII-OK message, either the 0 or 1 anunciator will be displayed. This is believed to indicate the ROM version.

To run the self-test, hold ON and press y^x. Press any key to step through the tests until you get to the keyboard test, then press each key in order, starting at the top left (square root), and proceeding left to right, top to bottom.

I have a ROM 1 32SII from 1992: 3228S, it doesn't seem to have the fraction bugs.

This thread gives several ROM samples of version vs datecode.
My 32SII, ver.1, is ID9 (assumed 1999, in accordance with my date of purchase).

On the date of the introduction of rev."1":
Rev. "A" and "B" are mentioned by Eric Vogel in the HHC 1991 conference ("Reengineering the HP 32S", at about 23').

Thanks! Must have been very early in the product lifecycle that it was corrected, then. I bet that anything after 3228 (and possibly some prior to that) would be ROM 1.

3329S here. Gives the "1" above the "OK".
