A present for my father, best HP12C model?
Hello everyone,

I am a complete newbie when it comes to this stuff.

Would love some input on the best year/model for the HP12C.

I'd like to make sure I am picking the best, my dad deserves nothing less.

So from what I've read, it seems like the vintage USA models have the best quality?
If USA made isn't available, then the next best thing would be Singapore and Brazil?
What's the difference between molded keys and printed?
The letters on the keys fade away or is it "feeling" based?

Do they all give a tactile "clicky clicky" feel and sound?
This was something very memorable growing up.
My dad would punch away clicky clicky while I was playing with Lego.

Money is not a problem.
Appreciate your input and suggestions.
Thanks and happy holidays!

Have I got a deal for you!
Did I mention that it comes with a bridge that connects to Brooklyn?

HP12C? is whatever year a good thing. I got a new model in the hand and it has the HP key feeling.
But why 12C, why not HP15C? (HP15C is a bit more expensive)
If your father is working around the house (repairing), he will need few angular and sinus and cosinus calculation before he cut the wooden pieces. A scientific HP15C would be the "engineer" choice.
Calculating the status of his account on the Jersey Island (see Pandora papers; perhaps your name is there?), then the HP12C is probably a good thing. haha

HP71B 4TH/ASM/Multimod, HP41CV/X/Y & Nov64d, PILBOX, HP-IL 821.62A & 64A & 66A, Deb11 64b-PC & PI2 3 4 w/ ILPER, VIDEO80, V41 & EMU71, DM41X

Almost a decade ago we lost most of our stuff from a fire.
Insurance came in handy but not for the gold horizontal calculator.

The calculator was pretty much glued to my father.
Well... except for that one time it got left behind and evidently burned LOL

Not really sure what he's been using since then.
All I know for certain is it's not shaped like the 12c with the horizontal layout.
I moved out and he's retired across the atlantic.

I think this would be a nice gift, along with some other goodies. Maybe I'll throw in a McLaren 12c

You may get some help by watching this YouTube video: HP 12C Financial Calculator versions.

In Brazil I recommend the stores:
www.americanas.com.br
www.extra.com.br
www.kabum.com.br
www.kalunga.com.br
www.amazon.com.br
If you need any information from here in Brazil, you can request it.

What’s being looked after is an HP-12C made perhaps in Brazil, not one sold in Brazil.

Anyway, you forgot to include a link to the very popular Magazine Luiza website. Currently not the best deal, though.

https://m.magazineluiza.com.br/calculado...lsrc=aw.ds

That’s probably the reason why their market value went down by 18 some percent the next day :-)

Since we're talking Brazil, the 12C, and money is no object, then we should mention the made in Brazil version, the Prestige.

I was going to say that the Prestige is a very rare model, so to prove me wrong, here's a lot of FIVE, oh, and an 11C.

Here's a beautiful pic of Keith Midson's 12c Prestige.

Not nearly as beautiful as Keith Midson’s (neither the picture nor the calculator), but I am showing off mine anyway:

I'm a few days late, I don't think you can go wrong with the classic 12C. I tend to favor current productions because of the faster processor.
