Replacing display

I have an HP 15C from ~1985 and need to replace the display. I don't get beyond the point of opening the rear but the board does not move and I don't want to use force to not break anything. I could not find any help on that and no videos on opening the device. What do I need to do to get the board out?

It depends on the type of keyboard PCB inside your unit.
If your unit has a pcb like shown here: https://www.hpmuseum.org/10cint.jpg .

you can just replace the whole display/CPU board, or dismantle the board from its black foil, and declamp the LCD.

If your unit has a (later) full size keyboard pcb, you will need to cut off the heat stakes. Tedious work, but doable;-)
Remember to keep the heads, so you have some material for later reattach.

If you have the pcb in your hands, you'll have to declamp the LCD.
Important thing is not to damage the two flexible bacon strips,
which make up the contact lines between the pcb and LCD tray.

Before I forget: Newer units use a different LCD, which has less contact pads than the older LCD.
AFAIK they are not interchangeable.

'bacon strips'? Is this some unique HP technology
