HP-75C Demo
I found in some old HP-75C swap files 3 program files that, together, demo the "HP-75C portable computer" as HP called it.
The setup used for the demo was the HP-75C connected to a 82163A HP-IL video interface. This normally connects to either a monochrome monitor or a TV set. Since neither was available, I used a composite video to HDMI converter and an HDMI LCD panel. Using a totally darkened room, I filmed two runs of the demo (it repeats itself) using manual exposure and manual focus. Enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxHKYVZ49Yc http://www.series80.org |

RE: HP-75C Demo
Thanks V, excellent video, very clear!
I had forgotten that the 75C appointments could wake-up the machine to run a program, etc. Until the 75C, pretty sure the 41C with time/CX was the only other calc. that did this. Also interesting that they promise an Assembly Language SDK was forthcoming but the forgot the asterisk saying * - Only if you folks buy enough of these... --Bob Prosperi |

Reminds me of War Games :-)
Can you please share a link to the demo as I'd like to try myself? (06-22-2022 04:35 PM)vassilisprevelakis Wrote: I found in some old HP-75C swap files 3 program files that, together, demo the "HP-75C portable computer" as HP called it. Calculator Clique on YouTube |

RE: HP-75C Demo
Thanks, I found the combined download and a VE75 directory but the txt catalogs don't appear to identify which file(s) are this demo program.
Have I missed a file with descriptions/details? Any pointers appreciated. (06-23-2022 12:50 AM)rprosperi Wrote:(06-23-2022 12:42 AM)dmh Wrote: Can you please share a link to the demo as I'd like to try myself? Calculator Clique on YouTube |

RE: HP-75C Demo
I've not explored all the files in detail, but it's probably safe to assume the program DEMO is the core program, so load it and list it to see what other programs it uses, likely some kind of data file with all the various message text that is displayed. It was probably constructed this way so different language versions of the demo program could be easily translated for other language markets.

The link is http://www.series80.org/Misc/HP75-2005.DAT From this image you need the HP75DEMO (obviously :-) plus LOOP and MENUDATA All are basic programs. In addition you need the HPILCMD LEX file (also included in the image). I have also included COM75C, a terminal emulation program (also in Basic) from the HP-IL acoustic coupler manual. There's a lengthy discussion on this topic on the HPSeries80 group. https://groups.io/g/hpseries80/topic/76321012#4991 I ended up buying a VGA version of the Extron DVS 304 video scaler off eBay. Works awesome with all my composite video sources except the 92198 video interface. Dave |
