HP48g plus <—> iMac 10.15.7 comm
Hi everyone. Lover of the “old Hewlett Packard” since my days as an electrical engineering student in the 70’s. Got to play with HP lab equipment in school but the legendary calculators that appeared back then were beyond my price range at the time. Eventually treated myself to a brand new HP15c in 1986. Still have it and it still feels and works great.

Someone was asking me about the 15c recently so i googled some info for him and stumbled across the SwissMicros web site and I knew I was doomed. Immediately ordered a DM42. Don’t have it yet - I understand SwissMicros shipping time from Switzerland to USA is quite slow.

In the meantime I dowloaded Free42 and Plus42 from the iPhone app store and bought a HP42s calculator and a 82240a printer off ebay, both in excellent condition.

I think you see where this is going. It’s my understanding i can use the IR Interface on the HP42s to send programs to an HP48 via INPRT and then over to my mac via a special serial to usb cable. That would be awesome and i gain an awesome HP48 as a bonus.

So i think all i would need for the HP48 (i’m thinking a HP48G+ model) is one of these:

1x USB FTDI Cable for HP Graphing Calculators (HP 48GX 48G+ 48G 48S 48SX) & CD

And because i have a mac and not a PC i would need this also:

Hoppi2

Is that it? Am Ii forgetting something ?

I’m afraid I’ve re-caught the HP RPN bug and more!

Thanks,

Greg
