HP-15C 25th anniversary edition
Hey there, just bought a good condition 15c. The seller listed this as a 25th anniversary edition. When I searched the forum, it seems like the only hits for this edition are associated with a 12c. Just wanted to learn more about this particular model (if there even was a 25th edition).
Can anyone offer some insight? |

RE: HP-15C 25th anniversary edition
An impression of this only, as I have only learned the history by reading posts and other web information.
The original 15C was in production from 1982 to 1989. In 2011 for a short period a new 15C Limited Edition was released. The hardware was based on the current iteration of the HP-12C, with new software and printing. The 12C Platinum model does have a 25th Anniversary edition released in 2006, is it possible you have that one? |

RE: HP-15C 25th anniversary edition
It does sound like the Limited Edition indeed, AFAIK it was never called "25th anniversary edition" (which would be 2007 instead of 2011).
If it has a "Limited Edition" printed below the front HP-15C logo, a metallic aid sheet at the back, is powered by two 2032 batteries and is manufactured in China, that's the one. |

Use the 25th version HP12c to flash the HP15C rom and replace the label could make this happen.

RE: HP-15C 25th anniversary edition
To be clear, there never has been a 25th Anniversary Edition 15C, there was only the 15C Limited Edition. Since there was a 25th AE 12CP, it's possible the seller was confused and believed that applied to all Voyagers. It's also possible the seller simply called it that to make it seem even more rare, and charge a higher price.
If you're happy with it and what you paid, great! If you're not and feel you were overcharged based on the false (or at least incorrect) premise that it was an AE machine, contact eBay (or wherever) and ask for a return/refund. If it's challenged, let the know you confirmed it here. Another approach is to ask for a partial refund, since the AE claim is false, and maybe you can get $25 (or whatever) back. But if you're happy with it, just use it and ignore it's claimed heritage; 15Cs are quite slow (by today's standards) but otherwise a great machine. Good luck --Bob Prosperi |

RE: HP-15C 25th anniversary edition
Recently ordered an 11c from the auction site.
There was no medallion on it, when it arrived, and from the keyboard, it was clear that it is a 12c. Should have looked at the pictures better before I committed to purchase, so that's on me. I had an original 12c years ago, that had the medallion fall off, so this is a good replacement. To the OP, what keyboard? What are the first digits of the serial number? The people here will be able to tell you a lot about it. |
