RE: TI 36X Pro: The Next Generation?
On the MathPrint, In table, one can put define f(x) in choice #1, dx(f(x)) in choice #2 as g(x). By generating a table, it is easy to find where g(x) changes sign implying an extremum. By going to numsolve, by solving for g(x)=0, the x value can be found of the extremum. By quitting, bringing up the Home Screen, entering x will enter the x value of the extremum. Going to table, pressing choice 2, quitting/returning to the Home Screen, we have f( now press x)…this makes it f(x). Enter, and you will have the f(x) value of the extremum. Hope this makes sense!

RE: TI 36X Pro: The Next Generation?
Candidates for roots, of course, can be found on table, and then solving for f(x)=0.

I’m sorry. I cannot follow you. It seems your instructions are for the 30X MathPrint. I'm looking for the steps for the 36X Pro. Thank you. |

RE: TI 36X Pro: The Next Generation?
Hi Matt,
Let me explain in more detail (using the TI-30X Pro MathPrint, which has the same functionality as the 36X Pro): Press the table-key Press 1 for add function. The screen shows f(x)= Enter function f(x)=e^(-x^2) Press enter-key. The screen shows g(x)= Enter for g(x): Press d/dx - The screen shows g(x) = d/dx(___)|x=__. Put in the open brackets e^(-x^2). Behind the brackets, there is |x= . Go with the cursor after the = and put in x. Press enter. On the screen, there is "Table Setup." Put in starting value (e.g., 0) and step (e.g., .5). Goto auto and press enter. The cursor goes to Calc. Press enter again. You get the table: x_____f(x)______g(x) 0_____1________0 0.5___0.778801__-0.7788 1_____0.367879__-0.73476 You can get further results by going up or down with the cursor. I hope this helps |

Quote:Press the table-key That's one place where functionality was added to the TI-30X Pro MathPrint. The earlier model TI-36X Pro and TI-30X MultiView only have one function, f(x), no g(x). — Ian Abbott |
