Virtual Calculator Program 64 bit Windows Problem
I cannot seem to get any version later than (2018 10 16) to work on my Windows 8.1 machine.
Are there any particular requirements that the program has, maybe I need to install something first? Quote:Problem signature: This appears on the window as it stops working upon startup. |

RE: Virtual Calculator Program 64 bit Windows Problem
Windows 8.1 reached end-of-life six months ago. That means no more security updates. It also means there is no reason for applications to ensure they run on it. Please for the good of everyone take the free upgrade to a supported version of Windows.

I will definitely change over to windows 10 soon, but can't at the minute. The Virtual Calculator however, hasn't worked since 2020 updates. |

Next guess is your W8.1 install is damaged. If you have many hours to burn: -Make a bare-metal backup and retest the Prime application behavior from your system restore points. Echoing Eric's words, 8.1 is EOL. Since mid July of 2015 the upgrade to W10 is free for W7 and W8 users. |

RE: Virtual Calculator Program 64 bit Windows Problem
It seems to be ironic that many who use HP calculators who use old HP calculators
tolerate the need for the prime and other emulators to use the latest and greatest development tools. There are valid reasons to be running 8.1. Many applications will run on windows 8.1. As an example, there are may applications posted on portableapps.com which even run on win xp. Why do we want practical working computers to be made obsolete -- why do we want calculators to be made obsolete? Just something to think about. |

HPE, A, MSFT, INTC, AAPL, AMD, etc, etc willingly obsolete. The wise treat EOL OSs as a security threat. Point being is run EOL OSs in a sandbox (AKA, properly secured environment) and then do so for as long as you like. |

RE: Virtual Calculator Program 64 bit Windows Problem
I'd like to thank Wes for the "v8" moment.
I found some info about the qt6 support cycle at: https://doc.qt.io/qt-6/supported-platforms.html It explains about the various devices that can support qt6. which apparently used by the prime emulator. I did a fresh win10 install and the connectivity kit and emulator. My prime was updated to the April 2023 version firmware. Thanks |
