HP-48GX: How to draw text to PICT?
Hello everybody,

A week ago, I received a HP 48GX. What a fine and well-thought machine! To just calculate something, I even prefer it to my HP Prime G2.

The question: I just get warm with the thing and could not find if, and how, one can output a string of text onto the graphics (PICT) object. Is there a way and I was just too blind to find it in manuals and example books? Thanks!

Best Regards,
Stefan

RE: HP-48GX: How to draw text to PICT?
Drawing a string to the PICT environment requires a two step process:

1) Create a GROB containing the string
2) Draw the newly-created GROB onto PICT at the desired coordinates

For Step 1, take a look at the →GROB command. There's a specific form of that command for converting strings to GROBs.

For Step 2, take a look at the REPL command. The destination GROB in this case is PICT.

You're very welcome, Stefan! Glad you got this working the way you wanted.

The 48/49/50-series went through some changes over the years, but is a very mature platform that still has much to offer (IMHO).
