HP67 Keyboard Internal Cracks x 4
I opened this tonight to do a gummy. When I separated the two plates some small copper pieces fell out of somewhere.
I noticed the four marked aluminum pads split on the side, with the other sides ok . Are the pictured copper 'things' a repair method to prolong the damages? If true, how am I going to reinstall them. How do they help? I don't have another idea in mind for these things. |

I don't know what those bits are or how they got in there, but it is hard to see how they can help repair a cracked key strip.
Here is one method of strip repair on page 49. cheers Tony |

Very interesting.
Looks like somebody was in there before you attempting repairs. I can only think the tiny metal wires were maybe soldered in to connect the strips mechanically/electrically. But of course, with flexing over time, they likely gave way. -J |

RE: HP67 Keyboard Internal Cracks x 4
My sense says fiberglass as used in body work and some epoxy on the edges?
It is interesting to fathom a way to close the crack because they are very straight too. The affected keys work but are spongy. These pins just got spread about, no sign of being put in place. To bad not one of them was stuck in place, even if soldered and came loose. They prolly were laying in the bottom or top, willy nilly. |
