RE: interesting digital watches
Check out the "GoodWatch" which includes an RPN calculator and much more at https://github.com/travisgoodspeed/goodwatch . The main limitation is that the RPN calculator is very limited - 8 integer digits. But with 32k of Flash equivalent and 4k of RAM, there's more room than early HPs had so a useful scientific calculator should be readily doable, especially if the radio functions are dropped.
Back when Casio made their scientific calculator watches, I suggested to various contacts that HP consider working with them to make an RPN version that they could then sell under the HP brand, just as they sold Epson printers and more. Never happened. I finally stopped wearing my Casio calculator watch when I realized I never used that capability any more due to my having Free42 on my Android phone. So I bought a non-working Seiko Kinetic cheap, replaced its rechargeable power cell, and have enjoyed it for five years now. Working with Altium Designer (electrical engineering design software) every day, building my own GoodWatch is tempting! So many signals, so little bandwidth! |
