(HP71B) Where to get the best quality SW IDS prints?
Hello,
I am using the IDS from this forum (1, 2 3 and Forth) and I am not sure if it is the best scans available. Can anybody recommend where are the best scans? Regards. HP71B 4TH/ASM/Multimod, HP41CV/X/Y & Nov64d, PILBOX, HP-IL 821.62A & 64A & 66A, Deb11 64b-PC & PI2 3 4 w/ ILPER, VIDEO80, V41 & EMU71, DM41X |

While no collection of scans is perfect and quality varies in all large document collections, generally speaking, the best quality scans can be found at Eric Rechlin's HP Literature site:

You're welcome.
71B IDS Vols II and III are coming soon-ish (late this year?) to Eric's Literature site, they need to be scanned from the 4-up original format (the way HP published and sold them) and converted to 1-up format, and this process requires some manual steps and cleanup, so a huge job for the resulting thousands of pages. --Bob Prosperi |

RE: (HP71B) Where to get the best quality SW IDS prints?
When I scanned the the IDS originals I had (71 SW vols I, II, III, 71 HW, and HP-IL), I scanned them at 600 dpi on a ScanJet 3c, and used a simple script on Linux to de-up the 2-up and 4-up pages (vol II and III). It worked very well and with very little manual effort because the sheet feeder on the scanner ensured that none of the pages had any significant angular skew, and that there was almost no variation in the image positioning. These are the scans on the MoHPC discs.
