Consensus on replacement battery

What's the consensus on replacement batteries for the HP Prime?

Not once have I seen an official HP replacement, so it's got to be a compatible battery.

The guys I've always used for this, duracelldirect.co.uk, no longer sell this battery (I already have one from them and the part number is simply no longer in their inventory, with no replacement).

The alternative is to use a battery for Samsung Galaxy S3, but a replacement battery for a 12-year-old phone is also becoming hard to find. Sure, you can get so-called OEM batteries from the likes of TAS and Amazon, but how far above 90% is the probability that they're fakes/knock-offs that will quickly turn into spicy pillows?

I'm pretty sure HP always said from day 1 that the battery came from a phone [1] and therefore that was where to get a replacement from.[2]

[1] I'd have to look up the exact one to check but the Samsung you mention is almost certainly it.

[2] I find it a great irony that almost all my devices with removable batteries still have working batteries that don't yet need replacing, whereas the ones with built-in batteries have often died.

For customers in Europe, this appears to be the official HP Prime G2 replacement battery from MORAVIA Consulting. I have not found an offical MORAVIA Consulting link to a replacement battery in the U.S.

The battery for the HP G1 and G2 appear to be the same physical size (Samsung S3 battery).

Thanks for that. Sadly, last time I looked, Moravia didn't ship to the UK. They say that they ship only to Europe and the UK was in Europe last time I looked, but what they actually mean is that they ship only to the European Union. Europe and the EU are not the same thing. Switzerland and Norway are also in Europe but not in the EU.

They are indeed the same battery, they're fully interchangeable.

Except that phone hasn't been produced for nearly a decade now! It's a miracle the batteries for it were produced as long as they were. All you can get now are cheap knock-offs with so-called high capacity. I wouldn't trust any of those.

Absolutely! You really have to baby newer phones in that regard. Having said that, I do have an old Samsung S7 Edge from 2016 in which the battery is still in very good condition. While I no longer actually use the phone, I do check the battery every few weeks and charge it occasionally to make sure it stays between 20% and 80%.
