Initials inside case?

I have disassembled a 38C that had major battery leakage damage and spotted something while cleaning the case.

Inside the top case, just above the display:



Inspector's initials perhaps?

Is this common in HP calculators? I've certainly seen it in other products, but first I've noted in an HP.
