DM42n doesn't find .pgm files?
Hi all,
Just received my brand new DM42n (and am delighted with its sturdy construction and feel!). For grins I decided to try one of the alternative firmware options (from "DeeTee" -- eg RACK42, DESK42). Following the instructions for loading these onto the "root" disk via USB -- they appear on my Finder interface (Mac) but under the DMCP menu where under option 3 "Load Program" appears -- all I see is: HELP OFFIMG PROGRAMS SCREENS without the actual .pgm files (note, I tried both this root directory and the PROGRAMS directory, and they did not appear on the DM42n screen). Obviously I'm doing something wrong/missing something/ or the DM42n simply isn't compatible, which doesn't feel right. Has anyone else observed this? Thanks much in advance. |

RE: DM42n doesn't find .pgm files?
The DM42 and DM42n do not share comptible application program formats, due to the different SOC's used (and different DMCP interface, etc.).
AFAIK, none of the several alternate builds of DM42 have been adapted to the DM42n yet, so basically it's a case of these applications aren't compatible with the new h/w, which is reasonable and in no way criticizing them, I'm just trying to be clear here to explain why you can't get them to run. I'd say contact the authors and ask them if they will be porting their apps to the DM42n. Good luck! --Bob Prosperi |
