(41C/CV) Computation of Dissolved Gas in Water
An excerpt from Computation of Dissolved Gas Concentrations in Water as functions of temperature, salinity & pressure, American Fisheries Society Special Publication 14, The Fish Factory, 1984, © 1984, ISBN 0-913235-02-4, pages 117-148

                                        INTRODUCTION

Gas solubility data are required for a variety of … applications. …

Both the measurement and control of dissolved gas concentrations depend on an accurate knowledge of equilibrium gas concentrations. It is necessary to be able to compute the equilibrium concentration as functions of temperature, salinity, pressure, and gas composition. … The book is divided into three sections: (1) the solubility of gases in fresh water; (2) the solubility of gases in saline waters; and (3) the computation and reporting of gas supersaturation levels.
Solubility data are presented in both equation and tabular forms. With this information, the equilibrium concentration of pure gases, air, or mixtures of gases can be computed. In most cases, interpolation should not be required. Sample problems are included in each section. Programs for the computation of dissolved gas concentrations with hand-held calculators are also presented.

PART I: SOLUBILITY OF GASES IN FRESH WATER
… The details of equations used to produce this report can be found in Appendix A. Programs for the computation of dissolved gas concentrations with hand-held calculators (Hewlett-Packard Models HP41C or HP4ICV) are presented in Appendix B. Appendix C presents important physical properties of water as functions of. temperature and salinity. …

APPENDIX B: PROGRAMS FOR HAND-HELD CALCULATORS
Included in this appendix are eight programs for the calculation of dissolved gas variables. They are written for a Hewlett-Packard 41 CV programmable calculator. Users that are unfamiliar with programming the HP-41CV should refer to the user's manual before attempting to use these programs. Specific requirements of these programs and some general instructions on the use of the HP-41CV are presented below.

Entering the Programs
The actual programs are listed in Tables B-2 through B-9. These programs must be keyed into the calculator. …

Table B-1. Data Storage

Table B-2. Program CSTAR

Table B-3 Program BAROM

Table B-4 Program METER

Table B-5 Program FEET

Table B-6. Program BUNOZ2

Table B-7 Program BUNCO2

Table B-8 Program WATER
