Battery drain
If I have the prime on the charger all day, the indicator will show full. if I close it and say open it the next day or a few hours later the battery indicator shows like half.
Also if I fully charge it and dont open it for a week or two, the battery will be compltely drained and wont start. Its at the point where if I dont plan to use it for a couple weeks I just remove be battery, and I even bought an extra battery just in case. Is this a common thing with HP prime or no? |

RE: Battery drain
No, this is not common at all. I habe a Prime G1 and G2. Both calculators have at least 75% when I have them unused in the drawer for about two weeks.
I think your battery pack has to be replaced. |

RE: Battery drain
The battery is not necessarily dead.
A while ago I had a similar effect that after charging the battery wouldn't hold for more than a day. It turned out to be dirty contact areas, both on the calc and the battery. A qtip with isopropyl alcohol will help. As I use the calc in my relatively clean house only, I think it's a chemical reaction between the contact points. -- Ray |

From 100 to 75 in about 2 weeks is still a battery drain tho. This happens even on completely new batter that I recently bought. I will try cleaning the contacts with alcohol like the other person suggested. But I feel like this drain has always been there since day 1.. |

RE: Battery drain
This is kind of normal for the Rev. A and Rev. C Prime.
The G2 (Rev. D) has a "coma" mode that reduces power drain to next to nothing a few days(?) after it is powered off. You'll notice that it takes longer to boot up when doing so from coma mode. You can also force the G2 into coma mode when switching off by holding down the Shift key when you press ON instead of releasing it first. When you do that, you'll see the HP logo on-screen until you release the keys. Current daily drivers: HP-41CL, HP-15C, HP-16C |

RE: Battery drain
Eneswar. You stated in your other thread that your Prime was more than 11 years old.
Honestly, I would not expect a cheap OEM battery to hold much charge after 11 years. I'd do what was recommended, and check the contacts, but if they are clean then I'd consider buying a quality $20 replacement battery. It's probably time, anyway. |

I have had my HP prime for approximately 2 years. But I did wrote that I bought a replacement battery and same thing happens with it. |

I will give this a try and see what happens, had no idea about this coma mode. Also how can I check with G or rev I have? I bought it new last year incase it matters. |
